Plov is a rice and meat dish popular in Kazakhstan. The meat in this recipe can be substituted to pork or chicken or omitted altogether.

Ingredients:
Onions – 2 (cut into half rings)
Carrots – 3 (grated on a large grater)
Lamb – 300g
Black pepper ground – 2tsp
Paprika – 1tsp
Smoked Paprika – 1tsp
Cumin ground – 1 tsp
Coriander ground – 1.5tsp
Barberies – 2tbsp
Rice (long grain) – 400g
Water – 800ml in pan (or 400ml for slow cooker)
Head of garlic – 1
Instructions for hob:
Soak rice in hot water (about 60 C ) for at least 30 minutes.
Heat pan with oil.
Fry the onions in the hot oil until golden.
Add the carrots.
Add lamb and cook for 20-25 minutes.
Add spices and cook out for 5 minutes.
Add water and bring to bring to boil for 15 minutes.
Add the rice, and close the lid over it for 5 minutes.
Add the garlic head into the middle of the rice, cover with lid and cook until the rice is ready, about another 5 minutes.
