Description:
This vintage inspired percher hat is made from white wool felt. It is hand blocked into a free-form 1930s style and decorated with self made silk velvet holly leaves and vintage red berries. The inside is finished off with a petersham ribbon which matches the crisp veiling ribbon used to attach this hat to the head.
Design Inspiration:
1930s percher and doll tilt hats. I had some vintage red berries that I purchased from a vintage fair a few years ago. I decided that they could be made to look like holly berries if used in conjunction with holly leaves, which I then made from some green silk velvet fabric scraps.
Further Notes:
The felt base was originally a different hat which I bought cheaply a few years ago. I steamed it and re-shaped it into a 1930s style shape.
